When snow falls, nature listens.

The little country store where I work on the weekends was very busy this weekend. It seems everyone was preparing for the unpleasant weather that had been predicted for us. The farmers and ranchers in the area were taking measures to ensure their animals had feed, others were fueling up their vehicles and still many others were cutting and hauling firewood. Past experience has taught all of us to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Around noon Sunday, the first tiny snowflakes made their appearance. It was as though they were saying, "This is your warning, get set". And then it snowed and it snowed and it snowed. How can it snow this long and only leave an inch or so of accumulation?
I am glad we have a protected area (sort of) for the dogs to go outside. Everything around here has to multi-task and that includes the greenhouse. The wieners look like little football players running onto the field when they run through the tunnel coming to the back door.
After carrying out scraps to any four legged animals traveling through, I turned my attention to the wild birds that frequent our air space. Cardinals seem to love us, so we return the favor by making sure the bird feeders stay well stocked.
Greenhouse frame doing double duty. Noah & Gigi love it. |

Even on overcast days, with our sunny yellow walls, we can pretend it is summer time year-round. Glass of lemonade anyone?

Weather Update: 6:30 p.m. Keefeton, Oklahoma Time
It's snowing again. The snow, that had partially melted today, is now forming icicles hanging from the roof. It is so quiet outside, as though Mother Nature herself was holding her breath. I am thankful that we have a warm, cozy home and are surrounded by all of our beloved animals. We had a lovely dinner of fish, mac & cheese and salad. Simple Living at it's best. Thank you Lord for blessing us with a cup that overflows with your abundance.
