Life Goes On, Thank You God

Secret #6
Be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars.
Henry Van Dyke

David and I spoke several more times last night.  He wanted to make sure we were o.k. after the gas leak scare.  Speck called before 7:30 a.m. to check on our well-being.  My sister, Joyce, called early this morning after she read last night's posting.  I am blessed with a caring family and great friends.  Life is good.

I was awake until after 2:00 a.m.......and then I slept on the couch with one eye open, just checking.  Becky said she was glad she was alive today.  She slept with one eye open, too. The only protection we had against a silent killer was the detector on the wall. It monitors both carbon monoxide and explosive gas levels.  $37.51 is a small price to pay for avoiding potential tragedy.  Big time scary, huh?

Carbon Monoxide Statistics:
Carbon monoxide (CO) is the number one cause of poisoning deaths in the United States. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, "there are approximately 2,100 unintentional deaths from carbon monoxide (CO) every year in the U.S. and the use of CO Alarms could potentially prevent many of these fatalities." In addition, more than 10,000 CO injuries occur annually from this colorless, odorless and tasteless poison.
Carbon monoxide (CO) can be produced when burning any fuel: gasoline, propane, natural gas, oil, wood and coal. It is the product of incomplete combustion. Carbon monoxide can kill in minutes or hours depending on the level of CO in the air.

How easily we take life for granted until we get a wake up call that says "life is precious, don't waste a moment".  Kinda makes one stop and think.

Even with very little sleep, there are still a number of things that have to be done today.  Thank goodness, life goes on.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to look through the window of cyberspace and explore the tips and times of Simple Living.
